I’ve been messing around in Photoshop a little bit, and using some vectors I downloaded from BittBox, and so I’ve begun this little graphic:

The only problem I have is that I’m kind of stuck now. I was fine getting up to this point just messing around with random images and whatnot; but then I hot a kind of block. I guess I’ll leave it for a little bit and then see where it goes when I come back to it. Unless of course anybody has any suggestions…

New Computer!

A couple of weeks ago I made the order; and then on Wednesday it arrived. And since then it has kept me pretty occupied for the most part. So I now present my first step into the world of Macs:

I’ve used Macs at university, and my parents own a couple; however this is the first time I’ve had to sit down for any serious length of time and get to use one properly. And I’ve got to say the whole thing runs like a dream. There are so many little things built in that you discover every now and then that make things just that little bit easier; or little animations that happen for some reason and you just sit back thinking how cool that was.

And in all seriousness, this thing is so much faster and so much more efficient than my laptop - although that is getting on for two years old now - that just sitting at the machine makes me feel more productive than I’ve felt for a while. i’m sure it’s just the novelty of owning a new computer though.

Either way I’m so chuffed with this machine!

Vending Machines

Last week saw us working on a mini project involving the creation of an absract vending machine. It was a very brief week long project to give us a break from what we have been doing, and to get us to experiment with creating something a little bit different. I’ve got to say, I think it worked.

We decided to create a vending machine that would contain hologram creatures that blessed the user with a luck of there choice. Be it strength, health, fortune etc. The machine would then let out a stream of smoke that would coat the user, this essentially being their luck. The machine would work on a donation system, so instead of the user paying and recieving their choice, they would choose what they wanted, and then pay afterwards. n a sense, wring upon the honour system. If however, the user decided to run without paying, then they would be recognised by the other machines which are connected via a network. And would ultimately get ‘cursed’. I’ve attached some of the slides from the presentation itself below.

The project was definately good fun, and we had a really good team that worked really well together.

In addition to this I’m going to be making some changes to the site over the next few days that will hopefully alow me to have more of a blog presence on this site as well as it being my portfolio.
