Citizen Journalism
Citizen Journalism is a news application that allows users to view constantly updated news stories online, and contribute their own news via video and text comments.Rosie Lidington, head of citizen journalism at Rave on Air 2007, asked me to design the website that would be used to publish the news from the public.
The idea behind Citizen Journalism is to use the the ever advancing capabilities of mobile phone video. More frequently people are using mobile phone to capture the latst news from the publics point of view. By using the internet as a point of access, users are able to view and add conent freely and easily.I used WordPress to publish all of the news articles, and heavily modified the WordPress theme to get the desired result. Posts varied from the main news, coming from the nuRave news team; public opinions on the main news article and finally various short news stories coming from the public.
