m.Steps

 

m.Steps is an interactive demonstration of collaborative music creation. It allows users to create unique pieces of music from a selection of samples by physically moving around a space

The space is divided up into four sections, each section representing a different instrument selected by the user (guitar, bass etc.). As the user moves around the space different samples are played at different volumes in accordance with the user’s location.

Up to four users can play at any one time with one person in each section. Due to its simplicity and ease of use, m.Steps is accessable to everybody; regardless of age, size or ability, there is equal interaction involved for all users. This diverse level of usability means that families, friends or even complete strangers can play together.

Despite its size, m.Steps has been designed to be portable and easy to set up. Plazas, town squares and festivals are ideal location to host m.Steps, the only limitation being space.
